I've tried many ways to get traffic to my web sites.
We all seem to have a tendency to go for the free stuff. Like free search engines listings, free classifieds etc.
Let me tell you I have a lot of web sites and sites indexed by the major search engines being Google, Yahoo, Bing. Most traffic ever comes from Google. However it is getting more difficult to hold and achieve top listings as the web grows.
So what is the alternative? See below.
Some of my sites hold top listings. But if I want to see real performance of visitors coming to my web sites this works in financial terms, bringing money in is paid advertising.

I have had fair to good results with PPC (Pay Per Click) search engines. Started with Google's Adwords, then Kanoodle and for the sake of costs have I run a campaign with 7Search.
With 7Search you can get going with $25 and have bits as low as 0.01 cents. However there are search terms I've seen that is as high as $9.00 per click through.
They have a nice search suggestion tool to aid you in your search term selections and show how many times a keyword has been searched the past month and showing the costs.
Once you account has been established can you have various ads running simultaneously. I run ads for my casino affiliate program.
However ROI (return on investment) ratio is very low I found. Percentage wise I would say two and a half percent mostly. Sometimes a bit better but haven't seen five percent yet.
Another sure winner when it come to ROI is ezine advertising. I always had good results since you reach a large targeted audience with a small investment.
DEMC's advertising has paid off many times for me in the past. For a few $$ reaching 300000 subscribers, you can't go wrong.

If you want to be more specific you'll find a host of ezines on the web who readily accept sponsorships.

The next best freebie is to write articles. Offering your articles for publishing can get you a lot of free advertising.
